Live at Charleston Music Hall

Final Backdrop

Back in the summer (2013), I was called in to create a backdrop scene of Charleston for a new music show being produced by the College of Charleston and Charleston Music Hall.  The idea being, that this production would be in the vein of Austin City Limits.  A lot of cool people and performers were involved: Edwin McCain and Sam Bush for the show, and Mark Bryan (lead guitarist from 90’s mega group Hootie and the Blowfish) was helping produce the talent.  So it was a great opportunity for my work to be seen, and also for me to be involved with my hometown, Charleston.  As with most projects, the spec was rush.  I got the call on Tuesday, met with the stage managers, art directors, and show directors on Wednesday (after creating a rough sketch) at the Music Hall.  And then after getting approval for the final sketch on Thursday, I finished the piece for a Saturday deadline.  Attached are my original sketches and final illustration.  Also, check out this neat little video produced by the College of Charleston to help advertise the show.  Still hoping to hear that the show gets picked up by PBS, or a local affiliate.
